Magic The Gathering - Streets of New Capenna - Commander Deck - Cabaretti Cacophony
Streets of New Capenna
The city of New Capenna is teeming with treasures—if you dare to claim them. But surviving in these streets isn’t easy—at least not without the help of your family. Streets of New Capenna (a Magic: The Gathering set) focuses on five crime families, each represented by three colors, competing for control of the city. More importantly, they’re vying for dominance over the Halo supply. Each of the five families has its own preconstructed Commander deck, ensuring a playstyle for every kind of player. It’s time to hit the streets and make a name for your family!
The Cabaretti family believes that running a sprawling criminal enterprise is pointless if you can’t flaunt your wealth, power, and success over the less fortunate. Once druids who connected people with the land, their sacred rituals have long since given way to endless lavish parties where everyone indulges in their wildest pleasures. The Cabaretti align with the white/red/green (Naya) color identity, and their signature mechanic is alliance, a keyword for abilities that trigger whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control. True to their party-hosting nature, the Cabaretti excel at bringing their friends along and overwhelming their opponents with numbers!
The Commander of this deck is Kitt Kanto, Mayhem Diva, a famed singer of New Capenna who is handsomely compensated by the Cabaretti family.
In play, Kitt Kanto takes politics to the next level. For four mana, Kitt enters the battlefield as a 3/3, accompanied by a 1/1 green and white Citizen token. Her stats might not impress, but her second ability is what makes her shine. At the beginning of combat on any player’s turn, you can tap two creatures to give a creature controlled by the active player +2/+2 and trample, and then that creature gains goad.
Kitt Kanto focuses on leveraging your opponents’ creatures to do the heavy lifting while also synergizing with strategies built around the alliance mechanic. Since she creates a creature token when she enters the battlefield, she can potentially trigger alliance abilities twice, which is further enhanced if you’re running token-generation strategies. Balancing both approaches allows you to capitalize on every moment, as Kitt can only goad your opponents for so long, and having a backup plan can secure your position in the late game.
