The Guardians Rising expansion, released on May 5, 2017, was the second set in the Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon series. This expansion focused on Pokémon from the Alola region, particularly the Guardian Deities of Alola, such as Tapu Koko-GX and Tapu Lele-GX. These Pokémon-GX introduced powerful abilities and attacks that shaped the competitive metagame, with Tapu Lele-GX becoming one of the most influential Supporter search cards of its time.

The set also introduced new Trainer cards, including Field Blower, which allowed players to remove Tools and Stadiums, making it a staple for deck control. Choice Band was another key addition, increasing damage dealt to opponent’s Pokémon-GX or EX, further enhancing aggressive strategies.
