The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-earth is a cooperative game for one to five players. In the game, a band of heroes embarks on perilous adventures to explore and survive in the vast and legendary fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. On their journey, they will face powerful enemies, discover lost treasures, uncover ancient knowledge, and customize their skills to suit their roles within the Fellowship. Darkness rises, evil spreads, and shadow and corruption creep across the land. Now is the time for heroes to begin their journey through Middle-earth.

Each game of Journeys in Middle-earth represents a single adventure in a larger campaign. During each adventure, heroes attempt to complete a series of objectives before the forces of darkness overwhelm them. Whether the heroes succeed or fail, the story continues. After several linked adventures, the campaign reaches its climactic ending—either triumphant or tragic.

To play, one player must download the free Journeys in Middle-earth companion app. The app controls the challenges and content players encounter, such as map tile placement, enemy behavior, and events. It also allows players to save their progress, so they can complete a campaign across multiple sessions. The app is available from Amazon™ Appstore, Apple iOS App Store™, Google Play™, or Steam®.

Each time you begin an adventure, the app builds it dynamically with randomized content. That means even if you replay the same campaign, the layout, enemies, encounters, and events will offer new and unique experiences every time.
